Like I said I have used BFD forever, and I just find it sounds the best, AD2 is more processed, where as you can get processed kits within BFD, but generally BFD is more of a RAW and REAL sound, and you can process to your hearts content either with the included FX, Comps, EQ's etc, or from within your DAW at track level, I usually do it in the DAW, and with everything separated to it's own channel it's pretty easy. But now I just record the midi from the kit, then go in and edit what needs to be edited, most of the time. Before I moved to using an electronic drum kit, I have an Alesis DM10 Studio Kit, I programmed the drums myself in the Piano Roll View, I found that easy, never really tried doing it from within BFD etc. It is very solid and stable, I can also say that about AD2, never had an issue with it anytime I have used it. I find BFD to be very user friendly, no issues at all, and I can't say I have actually come across anything I would call a bug. Why do I use BFD, well quite simply in my opinion there really isn't any comparison between BFD and AD, BFD is in another league altogether.

Well I didn't change to BFD as such, I have used it since there was a BFD, I got on to Addictive Drums and then Addictive Drums 2 because they came as part of Cakewalk Sonar, which I used at the time, can't remember if they were full versions or not, but I have the full versions of both AD and AD2. I just want to be able to record (while playing along with other instrument tracks I've already recorded) multiple drum tracks (kick track, snare track, hi-hat, etc.) so once they're down, I can change the mix on the kit. or, can I record (through Addictive Drums) directly onto my tracks like you can with Reaktor, Impact, Kontact, etc.

But, I'm a little confused on how the recording part works with these drum software packages.ĭo I have to record the drum part in Addictive Drums, then drag and drop everything onto tracks? Can I do that while playing along with tracks I've already recorded? so, I'm thinking about buying Addictive Drums (most likely) so I can record, then have full control to change the mix of the drum kit. If I decide at a later point that the kick is too low, or a cymbal is too hot, I have to change the mix at the Roland head and re-play / re-record the drum part. Basically, I have to mix my kit on the Roland head, and send either a mono or stereo mix to the track. It has "okay" sounds, but I do not like that I only have two channels coming out of the Roland head into my FireStudio Project. I have been recording all of my stuff with my Roland TD 4kx2 electronic drum kit.
